I do not pretend to know what is in the heads of the Koch Bros, nor the rest of the elites who seem hell-bent on consolidating power in the United States.

I don't dwell in that 'rarified air', nor am I privy to the inner workings in the inner sanctums

of that kind or at that level of cloud-dwelling inhabitants.

HOWEVER, one thing is crystal clear to me.

While I have no doubt that the elites in America feel that they have a right to their agenda and the rest of us are merely inconvenient obstructions to what they want to accomplish, they do intend to get their way no matter the cost or how they get it.

They may not be amassing weapons of mass 

destruction in the conventional sense. Nor do I think that they have any intention of taking America through military means or through any form of armed confrontation. BUT, I do know one thing. For all that they have already done, it is obvious they have no intention of backing down or giving up. Military force would be a bit ostentatious. These bastions of selfishness seem to be far more into stealth. Sneaks. They want to achieve their goals by being crafty and deceitful and well they have so far.

But now, they are a lot more exposed. Thanks to  a fair amount of competent investigative journalism, and the almost overwhelming abundance of information availability today and thanks in large measure to the internet, we do know and can see a fair amount of what they are, and who they are, and what they have been up to over the course of the last 3 decades.

Make no mistake about it. The elites I am referring to do involve David & Charles Koch and Koch Industries. But it hardly stops there.

Several hundred people and corporations are linked together...especially through institutions such as The Mackinac Center based in Midland Michigan, ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council...sounds innocent enough, right? Btw it's an arm of the NRA. Yep, THAT NRA.), think tanks such as The Heritage Foundation, and other organizations with innocuous sounding titles such as 'The Virginia Family Foundation'. Who after all can be against families? Unfortunately these 'families' seem to bear more kinship to the Manson family than to the Brady Bunch.

There are dozens of these entities who exist for a number of laudable (on the surface) reasons and yet all of them really only exist based on a few simple facts. They want to win. They want to consolidate power to their side, and they intend to remove from their forward path anyone or anything that gets in their way.

A number of these organizations actually write the legislation that our Republican-controlled legislatures are passing these days. Such as the Financial Managers Law in Michigan. (That little ditty came thanks to The Mackinac Center).

These entities actually write legislation and then deliver it to legislators who pass it virtually word for word. Not only is that reprehensible, but...sorta makes one wonder why we even need legislators. We seem to be paying them for nothing. Sweet deal. We are paying them to do little more than a cut-and-paste job and make no mistake. They are little more than shills. In Michigan, after the courts struck down that financial managers law and the voters repealed it in November 2012, that did not please our wealthy buddies. Nope. They didn't like that at all. SO, what did they do? They re-wrote the law, re-introduced it, and our wonderful duly-elected representatives who are supposed to serve the people not the special interests, promptly passed the onerous and odious legislation AGAIN, and this time with a section that virtually eliminates the people's ability to once more vote against it.

But that is a side issue for the moment.

The question at this point is WHY?

P O W E R!

That again is at the heart of all of this. With legislators in states across the country like Michigan, Wisconsin, Florida, Ohio, Indiana,

Mississippi, Maine, and elsewhere being run by a cabal of very powerful and extremely wealthy elites, we have already lost a great deal of influence and ability to put a stop to this wholesale installation of THE UNITED CORPORATE STATES OF AMERICA which is designed to replace THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

I SAY...HOLD ON THERE.

Since when do a few hundred bullies with billions of $$$ and almost limitless resources including corrupt politicians get to hold sway over the entire population of this country? Since when do the likes of the Kochs, the Waltons, and Exxon-Mobil get to dictate what this country is about? Get to virtually write the rules of the game and the country and then follow only those they like?

SINCE WHEN? SINCE NOW, folks. SINCE NOW. They are already doing just that and far more and exactly when do you think they will finally feel they have consolidated enough power and will start to cut loose the politicians, the conservatives, the media, and the rest of the dolts who got played like an entire orchestra of  Stradivarius' but who then will be merely extraneous chaff destined for the dumpster. The trash heap of history. 

That much we do NOT know. But I can't help but think the time for that may not be so far off as many think.

So, you might ask, what can be done to stop them?

Glad you asked.

There are things that can be done. Yes there are, and tomorrow I will begin to lay out some of those actions we can take.

IN THE MEANTIME...

Remember please. 

THIS IS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

Unquestionably the greatest country on earth...EVER. But just like so many great societies and civilizations before it, it and we are NOT invulnerable to the unscrupulous and the greedy out there. Yes, it is possible for this land of the free and home of the brave with its waving amber waves of grain and its flag standing tall and proud in the breezes that blow against it...to fall. Not easy? Perhaps, but not impossible. 

WE CANNOT LET THAT HAPPEN.

THERE IS TOO MUCH AT STAKE.

Your children and grandchildren deserve better.

The poor, the hungry, the sick, the hopeless both here and abroad deserve better. 

Seniors, children, the disabled. WE THE PEOPLE deserve far better.

WE ALL DESERVE BETTER.

For without America...this shining city on a hill, this world will be far more vulnerable to the bastards out there than it ever will be with us holding in our hands, clutching to our chests, and uplifting all of the people in the countries who look to us for hope...in every corner of the planet, and who exist in great measure because of our huge hearts. We may make mistakes by the handfuls, but our intentions as a country, as a people, have always been honorable for the most part. 

The same can NOT be said of those who would usurp power for their own self-interest.

THIS IS OUR COUNTRY. WE OWE IT OUR BEST...

FOR THAT IS WHAT IT HAS GIVEN US. ALWAYS.

WE MAY BE IMPERFECT BUT...

WE ARE A DAMN SIGHT BETTER THAN 

THE ALTERNATIVE
